What you don’t see in this photograph is everything happening behind me. Getting to this remote spot was an adventure in itself — a real test of my Jeep as I crawled across muddy backroads and splashed through washes (which my father always warned me never to do). By the time I reached the falls, a massive monsoon was rolling in fast. I knew I had a very small window before the storm made those same washes impossible to cross again.
